Implementing designathons to develop PrEP for HIV solutions in multiple countries to end HIV transmission in East Asia

The scale-up of HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) has been slow in Asia, necessitating tailored strategies to boost PrEP uptake. This interactive one-hour webinar aims to share experiences from PrEP-related designathons in Australia, the Philippines, Thailand and China with students, researchers, clinicians, and policymakers. During the webinar, the audience will gain insights into the steps of conducting designathons, allowing them to apply the methodology in their respective settings. The session will include Q&A, providing participants with the opportunity to exchange experiences with the speakers or ask questions related to designathons in the context of HIV.

In line with the SIHI Secretariat’s commitment to provide capacity strengthening opportunities to the stakeholders of the SIHI Network, the aims and expected outcomes of this webinar are outlined below:

Aims:

  1. Describe the steps of conducting a designathon.
  2. Share lessons learned from designathons in Australia, China, Thailand and The Philippines
  3. Exchange perspectives/knowledge learned from designathons in the context of HIV

Expected outcomes:

  1. Gain a clear understanding of the process and key components involved in organizing and executing a designathon
  2. Gain insights into the success, challenges, and best practices observed in different contexts and cultures.
  3. Exchange innovative ideas, strategies, and approaches for leveraging designathons to address specific health challenges.
